Interview With Chicago's Very Own Magix King

What is a typical day like for you?
A typical day is like having a bunch of tabs open and already slow running internet network. My mind moves at a thousand thoughts a min, on top of having to juggle the incoming calls, texts, and emails, it is just a constant motion. I have work in the morning, using the 9 to 5 check to help invest and finance in my career. When I clock out it's a balance between family and music. Attending events and maintaining a strong relationship with my family is little daily goals that I do my best to accomplish.
How long have you been doing what you’re doing and how did you get started in the first place?
I have been making music for years. I released my first project in 2012 and the inspiration from it was just the chase of freedom. I have always been in love with music and one day I decided that this is what I wanted to do and planned to give it my all.
If you could choose to work with some of today’s established artists or producers, to move your game to the top, with whom would you like to collaborate?
I would love to work with so many different artists the list is really long. I in love with collaborations and receiving energy from different creatives. Would love to collaborate with Kanye West, Pharrell, and Dre production wise. Lyrically or song wise, Wiz Khalifa, Big KRIT, and Kehlani.
You got mad love for Chicago. What's it like being a musician out there?
It's mad love. We have so much talent here it gets hectic trying to keep up with who is performing where, there will be like 4 shows and you recognize at least 2 people on each bill, its wild. At the end of the day, though it's all love, the sea of talent keeps you sharp and pushing yourself to always create and look for ways to do it better than you did the time before.
Most successful point in your career thus far?
The most successful point.. idk the most successful feeling was when I was invited overseas to Luxembourg. It was an all expenses paid trip, I got paid to perform and they did truly treat me like a King the whole time I was visiting. It was amazing.

How did "One More Time" and "Hi There" come about?
"Hi There" came about because I wanted to make myself more approachable. I think often times when an artist is on the rise, they get cheated on the "somebody recognizes me" feeling because a lot of supporters aren't sure how well their energy will be received. I wanted it to be known that I love the people and I love interaction if you see me say what's up and I will definitely return the love.
Which ingredient do you think is most essential in making your sound and style the way it is?
The way it sounds live. I love to perform and I write almost everything in a conversational tone. No matter how hype or chill, I can rap it to you one on one and the message is always clear. haha at least I like to think so.
