Mani The Mogul Talks Musical Background, Being a Women in Hip Hop, What's Next, and More

The world has got to get ready for this Hip-Hop legend in the making. Mani The Mogul is known in the underground Hip-Hop scene for her phenomenal lyricism, exceptional stage presence, in a addition to her highly energetic songs and music videos such as “100” and “Charlie Brown” she is most definitely an artist to keep your eye on this 2018.

Uhh: Tell me a little bit about yourself and your message as an artist?

Well, I'm from Brooklyn NY, I am a Rapper/ Singer/ Songwriter/ Friend/ Spirit/ Entrepreneur/ Engineer/ Performer/ Host/ And Love. I'm Love Nigga!!!!!!! My message as an artist seems to fluctuate honestly, Just recently I've accepted to walk in my privilege. And just to let people see God. Shit, just to want to get closer and get tapped in.

What is your musical background?

I've been around music my whole life. Music has always been an escape, a friend, a lover at times. I started actually singing at 6 and writing my own raps at 11. My father was always heavy on the music scene trying to break an artist. He's my connection to the world I am going to enter. He pushed me to be an aggressive lyricist, while always On never Off.

Musically, who are your favorites and who has influenced you?

Some musical influences are Lil Kim, Missy Elliot, DMX, Anita Baker,  Teddy Pendergrass, and R. Kelly.

What are the main inspirations for your lyrics?

VIBE.

How has your music changed as you’ve grown as an artist?

It's Become More Confident. I’m working on Becoming More Honest.

What do you think of the Hip Hop scene here in New York?

IT'S THE DIAMOND ERA BABY WATCH. THERE ARE STAGES TO GREAT TIMES. BEFORE THE BLISS. THE WAR WAS ALWAYS FIRST.

Tell me about an exciting experience you’ve had thus far in your career.

NOTHING HAS TOPPED OPENING UP FOR DMX. AT THE MOMENT PIECING TOGETHER THIS PROJECT IS NUMBER 2.

What challenges have you been faced with as a woman emcee?

Being overestimated because I'm a woman but being underestimated because I'm not a man.

What advice can you give to an emcee who is having a hard time juggling their dreams, the 9-5, relationships?

YOU CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST THAT STRENGTHENS YOU. POINT BLANK. PERIOD. FAITH IS FIRST.

How do you differ from other artists in the Hip-Hop game?

We differ in our light, our message, and our intentions.

Describe your music style in three words.

Soul, Fun, Scripture

How did you begin working with Chaz  Williams the founder of Black Hand Entertainment?

That's My Family.

Your single “100” is a real club banger it knocks. The music video is very glamorous as well. Do you come up with your video concepts?

This Video was all the Eye of my father Barry Hall and Moe Shines The Director. I was blessed to be able to shine in that vision I thought it was dope.

Tell us about your next project and what else to expect from you this year.

Just Keep Watching. Thank You for your Patience. I know I'm frustrating. Just Watch the process.
