Mixing electronic music and hip hop is always risky. Not commercially of course, artists such as Flo Rida, Pitbull, and to some extent B.O.B. have made long and successful careers from it. No, it’s risky because it can come off… well, it could come off as corny. No disrespect, all honesty. It takes an interesting combination of both sounds and styles to gain and keep both audience. Sell describe “indie-electro-future hip-hop” artist Sidizen King walks the line in grand fashion with “One Day”.
The Los Angeles native uses a bouncy, electro inspired track produced by Confessions to actually lay down some impressive flows. The topic is not new territory, but it;s cool: musician dreams of making it to the big time, even when his surroundings are at times, a contrast to the reality he hopes to achieve. Sidizen closes his first verse with “You can sleep on the kid, but you could never ever kill the dream”. Dream on, my friend.
