“BRRAP! BRRRAP! BRRRRAP!” * finger guns in the air * Who would’ve thought an intimate artist showcase would end up in a near stage-breaking banger? Last night, Innovative Music Group hosted “The Show” new artist showcase at Smash Studios in Midtown. The lineup included a slew of fresh faces including Vibe On Keyah, Jeneé Hunter, Jay.Pee (yeah that’s what he calls himself), Sinner Saint, and collective rap group Brotherhood (King Muziq, Jay Banga, Nino Million) and DJ N.O. . The Show started began serene enough, but funnyman Jay Banga, along with his styrofoam cup filled with whatever, injected a new energy into the crowd. Everyone was jumping up and down when each member of Brotherhood took the stage. Passions were high, for the trio but it was the band that had everyone pressing record on their phones. Large-biceped host Jason Bourne aka “The Plug” proclaimed, “Y’all don’t know it yet but we’re taking this group on the road!” Lesson: gems are often found in the most unexpected of places.
