"Wake Self pays homage to his favorite classic hip-hop artists in “Still Love Her” from his upcoming album, Malala. Within the first few seconds, J Dilla’s mother Ma Dukes sheds some words of wisdom then fades into Wake Self cleverly injecting titles and lyrics of revered hip-hop classics into the track. From Common’s Resurrection and A Tribe Called Quest’s The Low End Theory to De La Soul’s 3 Feet High and Rising and Ice Cube ’s Death Certificate, “Still Love Her” brilliantly illustrates Wake’s love for hip-hop culture." -Kyle Eustice
I haven't seen a music video like this one in a long time. I think it is great that Wake Self is showing love to his favorite artists and adding his own little twist. The combination of lyrics on-screen and video kept me entertained throughout the entire video. They had a vision and executed it perfectly.
