I remember the first time I heard Young Roddy. It was the summer before my junior year of college and I was staying with my mother in Brooklyn, working my first telemarketing job. I am a huge Curren$y fan and his Pilot Talk album had just came out. I was making my rounds through the album and Roasted came on. I was amazed. Roddy's verse was so dope that I replayed that song back to back only to hear his part.
Fast forward 5 years and Young Roddy finally unveils his debut album: The Kenner Loop. His flow is consistent as ever and the beats are very down to earth. The skits in the beginning of the songs are cool as they showcase OGs talking about life in New Orleans. My favorite song is Talk to em featuring Dave East, who is by far the best Upcoming hip hop artist in NYC right now. Bishop with Styles P hits hards on the stereo as well. Near the end of the project he collabs with Curren$y, who to me, is the greatest indie emcee of all time.
Young Roddy puts a solid project together with The Kenner Loop. You can tell he has learned a lot from the hot spitta and has crafted his own movement. I expect to hear much more from the New Orleans rapper.
