If you remember the era of VHS and summers spent with family, then this particular music video will be a tear-jerker. The intro begins with a trap-like beat, snare drums and intensely altered voice, yet what follows are delicate piano keys swaying in accompanied by choppy, distorted clips and scenes centered around a woman which the audience can assume is the mother figure for the rapper.

Brooklyn's own Quincy Vidal is not only a talented MC but also has a sharp eye for cinematography. What makes this music video so brilliant is how the visuals and sound create a dialogue with each other and we as audience members get a looking-glass view into a moment of this family's life. I really enjoyed this authentic home movie feel--the vulnerability and tenderness captured is unparalleled.

Quincy Vidal has gained many comparisons to old school artists such as Digable Planets and A Tribe Called Quest, due to the jazz vibe that dominates their sound. Their third project (Utopia|LDZ) was slated for release May of last year. Check them out & all their incredible music.
