Bio: Zaquan '4ourty8' Nelson, 21 (born 2.12.93) was raised in Waterbury, CT. The name 4ourty8 comes from a tragical loss he experienced. He lost his mother "Sharon Mazon Nelson" February 4, 2008 due to cancer & her burial was on February 8, 2008. This was a tough loss but within in that he made a promise to his mom that he vows to keep. Be Great & Never Give Up on his dream. 4ourty8 has been making music for most of his life. At first, he started with poetry & then became a good writer so with his love for music it made it only right to begin recording studio records. He started recording & engineering his own songs which immediately gave him the confidence that he could make good music and was great at it because it came so natural. He then set out to find that special sound of music that the industry seems to lack. 4ourty8 represents a thriving youth and he has set out to help instill the morals and values of living a better quality of life & doing the right thing for your self and others thru his music. Now currently paying close attention to his social network following understanding that this is one of the major keys to the game. Who do you think is the hottest Hip Hop artist this year so far?
"Well, I don't really listen to too many artist but to me its obvious whose the hottest in the game & I would say Drake because of consistency."

What do you want your fans to take from your music?
"Motivation and Inspiration, when you have nothing its not the end of the world, you still have faith."

What is your favorite part of making music?
"The reaction, I love when people get the message from my songs."

What does it feel like to finally release a project that you have been working on for so long?
"Relieving, I've been working on this project for almost 2 years. Now that its finally finish, I can give it to the people & see how they feel about it."

What was your first Hip Hop CD?
"Kiss The Game Goodbye. I liked a couple rappers before Jada but when I heard Jada rap it made me realize Hip Hop was more than music, its our culture."

If you could work with any producer, who would it be?
"Harry Fraud, Kanye West or Pharell"

What would you describe your life up 2 today in 5 words?
"Embrace your struggle through faith."

What does it mean to you to really work for your success?
"It means everything. Nothing was ever handed to me cause I never wanted it to be, I won't accept it."

What can we expect next from you?
"Nothing but good music, that's what I'm all about. I just want to be great and focus on what needs to be focused on, build my craft and keep getting bigger."

Why is your name 4ourty8?
"It came from First 48, which came from me always being up late. But I wanted to be more as an artist & I figured my name being First 48 would limit me on a few levels. So, I figured that I should dig deep and really get a better meaning for my name & for what my business would represent. " 4ourty8 " came from my mother's deceased date (02/04/2008) that happened 8days before my birthday (02/12/93)."

Why is your mixtape called Swim or Drown?
"It just represents the struggle and at the same time its motivational. I look at life this way, sort of a life or death type thing."
