Last night (4-27-16) marked night one of five for Scott Morris' Daze Summit. The 5-day event has showcases, panels, painting, poetry, and more so you will find something you like throughout the summit. Last night there were a lot of media outlets in the house including Revolt, Hip Hop Weekly, This Is 50, Tha L Spot Ent & Pr Llc, Pretti MONEE PR, Don Diva Magazine, social insight, and Upcoming Hip Hop of course. Trauma Radio also broadcasted part of the event live via their network. Robin J from TheTakeOvah.com and Jameer from WBLS hosted the event. I grabbed my Canon 70D and headed to Meridian 23 for the show. By the time I showed up, DJ Blackout was at his turntables and had people on the dance floor, grooving. Instead of individual artists getting their spot to perform, Daze Summit Day 1 featured groups (Regime, MorValue, Louder, and HomeTownHeroes). Each group got about a 30-minute set to do what they wanted with. Some groups were a collective of artists and some were dancers. From the time the first group hit the stage and the last group left, I was entertained. Scott Morris did a great job curating the event because all of the performers seemed like pros and there were no technical difficulties. The highlight of my night was B Morgan (Mor.Value's newest signee) who is a R&B singer with a beautiful voice. If you are in the NYC area in the next four days, try to make it out to one of the events because it is all for a good cause. Proceeds from the summit are going to S.Morris scholarship program in association with future project to help send high school grads to college. I will be covering all of the events (except Friday) so check back in tomorrow for more.
