Partygoers and pot smokers won’t be able to deny Flo Flocko’s raw and unapologetic talent. His music is designed for those who don’t take themselves too seriously and want to enjoy the utmost fun in life. His rap flow is one he can call his own and his stage presence is one you will never forget. His second mixtape Trapper Of The Year was recorded and mixed predominantly by him, which features the underground anthem “Out The Bandage.” Even though he is just getting warmed up, Flo Flocko intends on turning the flames all the way up for this year and many more years to come.
UHH: Where are you from?
Flo Flocko: Brooklyn and Southside Queens; I was born in Brooklyn and raised in SouthSide.
What drives you to be a musician?
On the real my family my situation, look where I’m at I’m still in the P’s every day I have to face this shit. My family still in the hood there’s no other way I can get my family out the hood, if there was I’d do it.
Which musicians influenced you the most growing up?
Flo Flocko: It’s a lot. Stack Bundles, Nipsey Hussle, 50 Cent, Rakim, Big L, Tupac, AZ, Jay-Z I listen to a lot of people Drake. I’m a hip hop connoisseur.
When did you start writing and recording music?
When I was in the 8th grade or 7th grade. I used to record in Mr. Cheeks family studio when I was young. That’s how I grew to know a lot of people. Later started to throw parties with my team called “Youngest In Charge”. We used to have over 500 people at our parties.
When did you begin performing your music and taking it seriously?
In 2016 when I finished school.
Tell me about an exciting moment in your career so far.
Meeting rappers that I’ve admired and performing for Juelz Santana in the club.
What do you think about the hip hop scene in New York?
People can’t stick together. People are separated. I wish it was different though.
Describe your sound in three words?
Unique. Fun. Free.
You currently have a mixtape out titled Trapper Of The Year tell me about that project and the production process.
I recorded it in School by myself, I had a couple people help me during the mix and master it. I wanted to see if I could build the mixtape myself. I got most of the beats from YouTube and I had fun with them.
Do you have a favorite record on the mixtape and why?
Yea Out the bandage and MiMi Did. Out The Bandage was the funniest song that I did. I had fun writing it recording it performing it. I liked it the most, it was the most catchy.
What can we expect from you this year?
Working on another project, working with other rappers and singers more, aiming to accomplish a Strip Club Tour. I’m trying to work on four videos for this upcoming project too with Who the Wizz. I’m determined we will see how it goes.
How will this project differ from your last mixtapes Trapper Of The Year and Gods Plan?
The difference will be this. I took a year off to learn music. I went to Institute if audio research and learned music theory, engineering and how to compose music the real way. Now I’m choosing different beats and creating different concepts from a different perspective. It’s becoming more fun now too. This mixtape will be Fun.
What advice do you have for an upcoming rapper?
Be you and never stop doing that.
