Go95.3 and Go96.3 brought a brand of Hip Hop and Indie Rock back to the twin cities and for the first time they had linked up to for the Go Snow Show at the Myth in St. Paul. Bringing out a heavy hitter from each genre. Bishop Briggs and Run the Jewels co-headlined this genre-bender with opening acts like Mikey Mike, Arkells and local favorites Shredders (composed of Lazerbeak, PaperTiger and Sims and P.O.S. of Doomtree).
While the main headliner for the night would be Run the Jewels, an equally impressive and energetic duo, Shredders, would take the stage first. Feeding off the synergy of working together for years, Sims and P.O.S. brought their brand of in your face high energy shows that has made Doomtree a must-see act. Combining their abilities with the production tandem of PaperTiger and Lazerbeak made their set a favorite of the night.
Next Bishop Briggs would bring everything in her power to match the energy of Shredders. From her laps around the stage to one of the most powerful voices I have heard, Bishop Briggs somehow managed to make a room full of thousand a background noise has her voice pierced through to my ears. Watching bands like Flyleaf lose their vocal prowess from too much motion, it was truly an art to watch Bishop create the range and sound while making use of every inch of the stage at the Myth.
Finally, the headliner and legendary duo of El-P and Killer Mike, known to most as Run the Jewels, took the stage to another iconic song “We are the Champions”. Similar to P.O.S and Sim's chemistry, El-P and Killer Mike's stage presence has benefitted from years of working together. From their ability to switch between verses and whose vocals are at the forefront to their ability to work the crowd to Killer Mike even showing love to the photo-pit, there was nothing but love for this illustrious pair.
