Noetic Shares Background on His Name and First Song

Ohio recording artist, Noetic blends the line of lyrical hip hop with danceable rhythms in his new track “Back There.” The funk-infused song will make you want to get up and move or at least nod your head. Blurring the lines between poetry and fun can be difficult but that’s where Noetic shines.

Tell me about your name Noetic. What does it mean to you?

Well if you look the word up in the dictionary it means "of or pertaining to the mind" and I'm all about that. Psychology has always been a real interest of mine and the intricacy of the brain. But it's also a play on the word poetic. Like poetic but nah haha.

You just released your first song. Why now?

Better late than never. I'm 23. This is my first song. I'm about to drop my first tape. I've been in love with hip-hop my whole life and I've been really studying the game for like the past 6-7 years. And right now, my instincts are telling me that I'm doing exactly the right thing at exactly the right time. And Ima take y'all on a ride with it.

How has the midwest / Ohio shaped you as an artist?

Man, it was crazy being a junior in high school and seeing Cudi blow up. That really got my attention. Like that dude lived 20 minutes away from me so if he could do that, I can do anything. But the Midwest really got a lot of different musical landscapes even just within short distances. Cleveland's got bangers. You go down to Columbus and they embrace a lot of different styles of music because people come from all over the world to go to OSU. And Chicago is poppin' right now. I've even got a couple Chicago artists on my tape because I love the sound they're pushing over there.

What can your fans expect from your debut project?

A little bit of everything. I've got songs to turn up to, songs to turn the lights down to. A lot of clever wordplay, catchy hooks. The producers I've been working with are so ahead of the curve. This project sounds like tomorrow but feels like your favorite memory. And I've got some cool features I'm looking forward to sharing with you cause they came with the heat!
