The Myth Nightclub in Maplewood, MN has seen a revitalization recently with new ownership. Acts like Tech N9ne, Migos and many more have touched the stage already this year and on last Wednesday, the Monster Energy Outbreak Tour stopped by with 21 Savage. The tour boasts some of the best and brightest new stars in the hip hop game. While 21 Savage is the most notable and most recognizable face on the tour, he was joined by Young MA, SlimeBall, No Plug, and Tee Grizzley.
Tee Grizzley was a new face for me, but for Minnesota, he was accepted with open arms. The Detroit native has a large following in the Twin Cities and they all showed up for him. Feeding off their energy he made his way to gates holding the fans back, rapping and high-fiving as the faithful cheered on.
Young MA was a personal favorite of the night for me. Bringing back the essence of Lil' Kim, Young MA's stage presence and careless attitude was something to behold. With a bottle of Hennessy in one hand and a mic in the other, she combined a bit of vulgarity with a smile and made the crowd fall in love.
21 Savage finished off the night in classic fashion. Coming onto the stage from an eerie cabin, dressed in a black jumpsuit and Jason Voorhees (Friday the 13th) mask with his hype man at his side. The chants of 21, the smoke in the air, and the all-ages crowd cheering, he removed the mask and unleashed his hits. Monster Energy provided The Myth Night Club with an adrenaline shot for a night and strengthen my beliefs that one, 21 is an up and coming star. Two, Young MA will take the title of the best female emcee in the game right now, and three when multiple people ask you if an artist (Tee Grizzley) is going to perform tonight, you pay attention.
It’s nice to ha e artiez to hold show and have e the people come out to meet and greet, also the bring energy to the people and make the feel the feeling of sun shine.
