Every once and a while I come across a company or event series or something so cool I have to feature it. When I found Art, Rhymes, & Beer and read their mission, I knew I found something worth sharing. It's not every day you find an event series that showcases artists all while helping the community and local companies. That's what Ryanito and Cellus have created with their event series in Florida. I had the chance to catch up with them to learn more about Art, Rhymes, & Beer. Check out the interview below and if you are ever near Sarasota, FL I recommend you stop by and see the show.
When did you launch?
The Art, Rhymes & Beer brand launched in September 2015.
Who are your founders?
Ryan "Ryanito" Larranaga & Marcel "Cellus" Bauduin
How did you come up with the idea?
We had done previous art & music events for an art and culture magazine and at WSLR Community Radio Station. Art, Rhymes & Beer was the culmination of that idea in building an artistic and cultural experience by giving back to the community and elements of Hip-Hop culture through working with local businesses, artists and musicians committed to a charitable cause.
It matters to us that we give back to our community through each event, each event benefits a chosen charitable organization with a portion of the proceeds. In the past, we have worked with The Humane Society, Toys For Tots, The Wildlife Conservation Fund, and Any Given Child. Our events have experienced tremendous growth in a years time from 125 the first time to well over 1000 for the year anniversary party that was in benefit to Any Given Child.
What is Art, Rhymes & Beer's mission?
Art, Rhymes & Beer's mission is to celebrate music, art, community & culture through artists, musicians and local businesses coming together for a charitable cause.
What type of artists do you work with?
We have worked mostly with Hip-Hop, R&B and Soul musicians and always like to innovate, diversify and strive for great music and cultural experiences each time we have an Art, Rhymes & Beer event.
List of artists: Ryanito. Shorty-140, Cliz & The ClockMen, Monteasy, Trey Libra, Katrina Lilly, Ocean Symphony, Summer Survivors, AmIAm, Hyfa the Prospect, Genoxlexis, NICE Collective.
How important is it to have local business/vendors at your events? Why?
It's important to have local businesses/vendors at our events because they facilitate a communal experience while showcasing their expertise and products for event attendees. We never just want to be one thing and always strive to create and innovate a great experience for each person that chooses to spend their time, attention and money to our event. All vendors along with performers and artists are curated and chosen to participate in Art, Rhymes & Beer.
Are you interested in bringing Art, Rhymes & Beer to different cities or states?
Yes of course. We believe Art, Rhymes & Beer is a great concept and would love to share that experience with many audiences in different and diverse places.
What is your end goal?
To create a culture and stimulate economies on a local level creating a stronger global market.
When is the next event?
Our next event is a benefit for All Faiths Food Bank on Sunday, November 20th, 2016 from 5pm-9pm at the Fogartyville Community & Media Arts Center.
