Last night, I attended the annual Queens Hip Hop Festival which took place in my neighborhood. It was the first hip-hop show I have been to in New York City that I was able to walk to. The festival celebrates music, art, and film all within the Queens' community over 3 days of events. I didn't know what to expect since I haven't been to it before but I was glad I stopped by last night to check it out. All of the artists that performed were local artists from the borough which I thought was cool and important. I mean, if you are going to have a Queens Hip Hop Festival you better feature Queens artists which they did. One of the things that stood out to me from last night was the love the crowd was giving the artists. They would go back-and-forth with the performer for their hook and dap them up when they got off stage. It was great to be surrounded by such great people. I wasn't feeling the best so I ended up leaving before it was over but I am happy I stopped by to support. Shout-out to the Queen of Astoria for the invite. Definitely, count me in next year!
