Every once and a while I come across someone who runs their company the way I run mine; professionally, passionately, and with good intentions. I met Matthew Garrett last year at an album release party at Ethik Clothing, a company he is also associated with, and could tell one of his priorities is helping artists. Since then, I watched him book artists throughout New York City and at SXSW. His work ethic and passion is inspiring. Matt started the company in his hometown in upstate New York years ago when he was booking underground artists for local shows. Shortly after, he started putting together shows in Manhattan and Brooklyn mainly for his client E-prosounds. The success of the shows started attracting other artists, fans, promoters, etc. One of the things I respect about him is that he doesn't just book any show for his artists either, he makes sure they are great opportunities. When he books his own shows, he never books more than 6 artists which I appreciate.

Matthew Garrett Booking prides itself on building strong relationships with NYC-based artists and their managers. Him and his team have built a steady connection of relationships throughout the past few years within the "core" Hip-Hop scene. They have booked artists such as Aaron Cohen/Inner City Kids, Hefna Gwap, Black Dave, TribeGvng, Grande Marshall, E-prosounds and more.

Matthew Garrett doesn't do it alone either. A lot of his success has come with the help of Ethik Clothing and Kate Loesch (Epic Records). Together, they have worked with artists like Jimi Tents, Young Joey, Rae Sremmurd, Travie McCoy, and more. Matt even mentioned it in his latest interview' "Without Ethik I honestly wouldn’t be where I am today. Alex over at Ethik has really helped me understand the game. He has given me the responsibility and full control to book shows and coordinate as well which really puts me in a great position. Probably Webster Hall was my favorite venue I have booked alongside Ethik, really a blessing to have worked with Webster." I am going to mention Kate Loesch again because her hard work and connections have helped Matt get his booking company where it is today. As for what is next for them, who knows. They have proven that their events are unique and well planned out so I can only expect bigger shows with bigger artists.
