TIDAL Invests in 5 Artists from Detroit in New Series: Unplugged

Out of thousands of applicants, TIDAL offered five finalists from Detroit access to a creative budget, and invaluable industry mentorship. TIDAL Unplugged provides emerging artists with the resources and industry expertise needed to pursue their passion. The pilot grant program launched in February 2019 with venture capitalists and philanthropists Mark Lampert & Robert Nelsen to support up-and-coming musicians and nurture the launch of their careers. Throughout the program, the finalists worked with industry experts and received access to resources tailored to their individual needs such as studio time, content development, marketing and PR support, and more.

We all know that TIDAL is an artist-owned company and that they have more respectable values than the other streaming services and their new series is no different. TIDAL is putting their money where their mouth is and standing by their mission of being an "artist-first" or artist-focused company with a new content series called Unplugged. Unplugged features 5 Detroit-based artists (Raye Williams, Sam Austins, Olivia Dear, Laurie Love, Emma Guzamn) that vary in age, genre, and style.

In addition to the docu-series and getting access to TIDAL's platform to showcase their talent, the 5 artists were accepted into TIDAL's grant program which gave them a budget with no-strings attached to create music, videos, etc.

TIDAL will celebrate the winners by hosting a TIDAL Unplugged showcase in Detroit, where the grant recipients will perform their final tracks on April 30, 2020.

You can watch the entire series on TIDAL's Instagram or App.
