[Photos From Last Night] Witt Lowry Opens for Watsky at Irving Plaza

Starting wonderfully on time like any good show should, Witt Lowry came on stage at Irving Plaza Friday night to a very warmed-up crowd, thanks to Daye Jack before him. Playing the first of two nights at Irving on tour with George Watsky, Witt certainly looked right at home at the potentially intimidating venue. He held the room throughout the set as if he was the headliner; you wouldn’t know the crowd weren’t all there necessarily just to see him. Keeping the energy on point Witt delivered crowd favorites such as "Numb" and "Ladders," with perfect delivery reminiscent of Macklemore.

Witt’s been putting out quality music for a while now (and we’ve been a huge supporter of him here at UHH) but last night felt as though he was turning a corner; the audience were enchanted, he could fill a full-length set and his presence was that of a rapper who has already made it big. In my opinion, if you can already act like you’ve broken through, then it’s only a matter of time until you will. And performing at Irving Plaza? That’s not a bad place to show everyone that you’re ready for the next step.
