There’s a new wave of local MC’s making noise and amongst them stands B Wise, an African-Australian artist with a different story to tell.
The son of an Aussie born mom and Nigerian dad, B Wise’s family bounced between rural NSW and Sydney’s South-Western suburbs, before finally settling in the latter; where he still calls home today. It was here that his love of music transformed from a side hobby into a full-time labor of love.
Fast forward to mid-2015, when B Wise released the infectious ‘Prince Akeem’ produced by Raph Lauren of Jackie Onassis / One Day fame. The buzzing single (and humorous video) received a ton of love from all around the country and was even named one of the AU Review’s “15 Best Australian Singles Of 2015”. He followed this up with ‘Lately’, a slick vibey track, which quickly became a fan favorite and one of the standouts in B Wise’s live show.
The buzzing MC went on to play some of the biggest shows of his young career and firmly cemented himself on the live music circuit – winning a slew of new fans along the way. For the last 8 months, B Wise has performed a game-changing run of dates, which included national support slots for the likes of Tuka (Thundamentals), Yelawolf, Vince Staples and Freddie Gibbs. Festival go-ers would have seen B Wise rocking stages at Listen Out Sydney (Triple J Unearthed Winner), The Plot and Newtown Festival, all the while holding his own and connecting with audiences in a big way.
Freshly inked with Elefant Traks (artists include Hermitude, Horrorshow, Urthboy, The Herd), a brand new debut EP ‘Semi Pro’ and a massive Australian Tour in front of him, the sky is the limit for B Wise, and he is ready to ‘Risk it all’.
