I love when we get music submissions from women in hip-hop (it's about one out of every 50 submissions) and Starrlight is why. She is why I love it because she is dope! There are a lot of great female emcees out there but it's hard to find them because they might not get the love they deserve. We here at Upcoming Hip Hop want to feature just as many women as men. This is why we are having a women's conference in New York City in the fall. It's being made by women for women, in hip-hop to shine light on the talented artists and tastemakers like Starrlight. Not only can she rap incredibly well, she has a great message. "Lights Out" had my full attention for the entire 2 minutes video. After watching it, I felt inspired and hungry for more.
