Sony Pictures/ITN/Money Rich Films "Easy Money" (trailer above) is quickly becoming a must-see action/adventure film following it's rave reviews starring a creatively selected cast. While the film stars iconic actors Omar Gooding (Baby Boy), Michael Blackson (Next Friday), and NAACP Award-Winning Clifton Powell (Dead Presidents), the film also introduces fast-rising new Hip-Hop group, Black Collar Hustlaz.

Currently promoting the new film, we got the chance to speak with the Bay Area trio of California Brougham, N.E.F., and Missippi on making their film debut, the group's musical roots, and what they have in store for newfound fans in 2018.

What is the Black Collar Hustlaz's origin story?

The B.C.H. origin spawned from me (California Brougham) embarking on my solo career. I was starting my label , I was the only artist and I felt like I needed a crew like Easy and NWA or WU-Tang where you have a collective of different artist that are great by themselves and great together as well. Being that we were friends and shared the love for music I figured why not do it together , so I thought of a name and presented it to everyone and here we are now.

How did your involvement with the film come together both musically and film wise?

We've been involved with the film since the very idea and concept of the movie which was initially gonna be a platform to showcase our music in the movie , then with the encouragement and the insistence of Sam Bostic who really pushed us to elevate our status in the movie from extras to main characters. So the music was always gonna be part of the film , but taking on principle acting roles was a major upgrade by far for all of us.

We were naturally attracted to the film because we thought of the concept and foundation of the movie from the start.

"...The Black Dollar creatively as a project shows our hunger for chasing and getting to the bag. As a community it's definitely important because it represents the foundation of us being able to build our own communities from the ground up like a China town or Korea town etc. African Americans not just having our section of the city being known as the "hood..."

Tell us about your first day on set?

The first day on the set for us was a very surreal feeling because we shot the end of the movie first and in our minds we were thinking we would have time to build up to those more intense scenes , plus it being our first time acting so we're thinking "damn no warm ups, just straight to it" and it was on from there.

Being your first film, how did the cast of seasoned veteran guide you through the production process?

To be honest alot of the cast didn't know it was even our first time acting they actually thought we were seasoned actors ourselves, so that let us know that we prepared well and that we were handling our business! (California Brougham) says, I did tell Clifton Powell while doing our scene that in was my first time acting and his advice was to relax and go with the flow because I was doing good.

Tell us about an incident on set during the filming of Easy Money?

One of the funniest moments on the set during filming is the Michael Blackson scene when he gets slapped because the actress asked him "if she could really slap him" and Michael Blackson said "yes" so his reaction and response in that scene is authentic and priceless. She really slapped the shit outta him!! Plus she's a professional MMA fighter.

One set, who was the funniest actor to work with?

Wow, that's a hard question to answer right there because everyone was funny in there own way so we can't say one person but it's definitely between Scruncho and Michael Blackson.

What was some research you did to prepare for the film?

Some of the research (California Brougham) says, I did for the movie was watching movies with Denzel , Tupac , Al Pacino and really looking at different scenes and what the vibes , energy and expressions were the actors where bringing to the screen.

With your first-time introduction out the way, if you could give another artist a tip about film... What would it be?

I guess the tip we would give an up and coming artist about film would be the same I would tell them about anything else , if you want to do it , do it and don't play wit it study and work hard at your craft because it's not a game, the entertainment industry is one of the hardest to get in to so be prepared to work hard.
