2. KEIYA

Born Chakeiya Richmond, the a 24-year old singer, songwriter, musician, and producer from the south side of Chicago is an artist pushing the limits of contemporary soul/R&B. Keiya has aspirations to keep the tradition of black music alive. Currently based in New York City, KEIYA exudes a new soul sound that is both familiar of her heroes and unpredictable. In February 2014, her self-produced EP "Work” gained from FACT Magazine, Complex Magazine, The FADER, and Solange Knowles' Saint Heron blog. Her sound, blending electric funk, soul, and R&B from the past and future with a warm voice that speaks of love, art, identity, social activism, and the black experience, exudes a modern cool experience that is truly unbound. Her sophomore project is expected in this winter.

4. krakaur

Hailing from Westchester, New York, producer krakaur (pronouced: crack hour) embraces a stylistic identity that is not bound by genre, but perspective. krakaur represents NY based 99 SUBLIME collective and NY/LA based label Youngbloods through his unique blend of experimental electronic music and hip hop. Producing under the guise of his last name, his reserved demeanor echoes a solace in solitude and self-reflection that, over the years, has infused a sincere quality of thoughtfulness in his rapidly growing body of work. The Sunset In The Rearview remarked his work as  “dense and vibrant. [Y]ou can listen to the track ten times and come away impressed by a different wrinkle in the production, a quirky hi-hat rhythm of a pitch-shifted vocal snippet”. With an inclination towards experimentation, collaboration, and social transition, his self-titled debut full-length album, “Krakaur”, is both a humble declaration of artistic identification and one of stylistic discovery.

Akinyemi, whose names in Yoruba means ‘fated to be a warrior’ knew at an early age that he was meant for great things. Akinyemi’s 2016 visual release, distant, is an eclectic blend of aggressive, confident, rhythmic flows with undertones of trap.
