[Event Recap] Chris Reeder Kicks Off NOT SOBER TOUR In New York City

Last night (March 1, 2016) I was invited to cover Chris Reeder's two-part show. The event was the official release show for his new EP and the first stop of his Not Sober Tour. It was held in the Lower East Side neighborhood of New York, NY (one of my favorite parts of the city) at Arlene's Grocery. I showed up during the second performance and the venue was already half full. People were vibin' to all of the open acts which was dope to see. Besides Chris Reeder, I was most impressed by Victory Jones who put on a incredible performance. She had full control of the stage; going back and forth from standing still with the mic stand to getting up close with the fans. She turned me into a warrior and a believer. A few of the songs she performed were actually produced by Chris Reeder so it made sense when he brought her out for his opening song. The venue got dark when Chris came out and as soon as the beat dropped, a visual started playing behind him. I don't really see too many upcoming artists put as much thought into their performance as Chris Reeder. I'm sure he practiced until her perfected it and it paid off. I was entertained from the second he stepped on stage until I walked out of the venue after it was over. Towards the end of his set, he took a break from his music and played a few classics from the 90s which got the crowd energized for his final tracks. We all were lucky enough to watch his perform his new, unreleased track "Kanye". His performance got the crowd hyped on a completely different level.  It was the perfect end to a great set. If you want a good hip-hop experience, make sure to hit up a stop on the Not Sober Tour.

Chris Reeder’s performance was full of energy, he owns the stage which is something you don’t see a lot in today’s industry. He writes his own lyrics, produces and engineers his music, and when he’s on stage he sets in on fire. He’s a quadruple threat in my eyes. Arlene’s show was lit and full of energy by all the performers. Amazing show.
