[Exclusive] Sik World Interview Part 2

Earlier in 2015, we interviewed a very interesting artist based in Arizona called Sik Kid. Recently he has changed his name to Sik World and has been gaining a buzz in the underground rap community. With only 9 tracks out on SoundCloud, Sik World has racked up over 500,000 plays. His passion for music makes new fans every day as his numbers continue to climb. Before you read this interview make sure you read part 1 Sik Kid Talks Inspirations, Idols, and More.

Why the name change from 'Sik Kid' to 'Sik World'?

I just needed a change as I felt as an artist this year I've improved my skills immensely! I also felt that I was no longer a kid as I made "Sik Kid" when I was 15. I changed it to "Sik World" because it's extremely different then any name out there. It almost sounds like a "thing" or a "band," I sat on the name for a while and almost didn't change it because of that - until my friends told me "if anyone can make it work it's you" and I decided then to make the change!

Do you plan on staying in Arizona? Or moving to city that has a big hip hop scene?

For now I will be in Arizona, I plan to work extremely hard so I can move out to California at least in a year or 2, that's always been a small dream of mine.

How are you able to pack so much passion in your songs? What is your writing process like?

Thank you! Honestly back in 2010-2011 when I found myself in depression after a breakup & smoking weed to fit in with the cool kids (I did it for 2 weeks) - the passion just started to flow right out of me and became natural as I just rapped about my true life and struggles! I just wanted to tell people how I felt and how my life was effected by being "unpopular" being "overweight" etc. For the second question, My writing process is a bit strange, I do this now but on the album I'm doing this a lot haha, so I listen to the beat for a day or 2 solid, no writing what so ever. After that I'll sit outside my house or in my room and write in PIECES. One day I'll do half the verse, later I'll do a quarter of it, etc. depending on the song and the mood. I couldn't write a song in a day. I'm such a perfectionist, It's hard for me to be happy with my songs so that's why I take forever! I end up writing 5 songs for 1. So almost any emotional, passionate, song you hear from me, there's a 95% chance I wrote that song 5 different ways until being satisfied with one. Being a perfectionist is so stressful yet it's very awarding because every song is to your MAX potential.

What can your fans expect from your debut album When Stars Align?

They can expect a variety of music on this. There will be passionate music and songs that'll make you relate & understand my story , but there will be songs where you'll jump up and say "OMG wtf did he just say... he snapped" haha. This is my first project ever and it will be my truest piece of art. I've always dreamed to place on iTunes Charts top 10 so I'm going to work smart & hard so it happens! I want to have fun with half of it, and let the world know my story on the other half if that makes sense. I plan to make the album 10-13 songs & there will be multiple producers! (I don't have one I work it for now). For features there will be maybe one or 2-still debating. I don't really have any rapper friends of people I have in mind at the moment

What are the top 3 albums you listened to this year?

I honestly can say I've never sat thru anyone's entire album. Im focused on my music so much I can't even give that time away - maybe I'll listen to some albums more often haha but I could tell you an artist who Im rocking with who I played about half their songs from there album this year! Logic! I just recently started listening to him & he's great. His album concept is genius and his creative process is even more! I listened to almost all of his music and even dug deep to find new and old interviews! I've been sleeping on him for a minute haha as well as G-Eazy!

Want to send a message to #SIKNATION?

I love you all and I am forever grateful you've given me a chance. I have no projects out and it's been 5 months since I dropped a song yet the fanbase is stronger and is actually growing! You guys are my family and I pray you feel the same. I promise 2016 is OUR year!
