[Interview] Rahiem Supreme Talks Idols, Motivations, and More

Upcoming artist, Rahiem Supreme will be headlining our showcase on September 19, 2015 at Rakit Club in Brooklyn, NY. Yesterday he released an exclusive track with us on our SoundCloud page. Make sure to check out the track and interview below.

Start off by telling us who you are.

My name is Rahiem Supreme, and I am Visual Director/Hip Hop Artist from NorthWest ,DC. I've been making music for about four years now.

When did you first discover your passion for hip-hop?

I would say right before I wrote/recorded my first project in 2011. Just kicking freestyles and holding cyphers with some guys.

Why did you choose hip hop to express yourself?

I just felt like it was right for me and what I easily connected to. It started out as poetry and spoken word. Although hip hop is my primary sound, I still like and respect every genre.

Who are some of your idols?

My father is the only one. Just seeing how he took care of things and operated. That's how I want to be if anything. R.I.P

What motivates you to make music?

The trials and tribulations of life. Speaking for a generation with visions. The independent ones though, not the kids trying to sound or be like everyone else.

What do you want your fans to take from your music?

I want them to take reality from it. That's all they need to know, and that's all they gonna get to know from my music. It's an escape from the imaginary world the internet allows people to create.

What do you hope to accomplish in your career?

I Just want to go as far as my mind will let me and ride the wave of my support.

What separates you from other rappers?

I'm me! I can ask you the same exact question lol. Syke na! But I always was on some trendsetting shit or just doing me type stuff. I never wanted hop on the bandwagon. Most my supporters are the same way, they like me because i stand for accepting yourself, instead of the current hype.

While you are still starting out and still growing your fan base, what knowledge can you impart to other artists on the come-up?

Just really put in the work. You go as far as you push yourself. Formula is simple.

What's next for for you?

I'll probably drop a few more singles, release a Project I did in Brooklyn via Converse Rubber Tracks initiative, and direct some short music films for others and my next project.
