Awon & Phoniks return with their first single "Summer Madness" off their upcoming LP Knowledge Of Self set to release early Fall 2015. Awon & Phoniks are a hip-hop duo from Newport News, Virginia, Portland, and Maine respectively. Established in 2013, over the creation of the underground classic "Return to the Golden Era" LP, they have made a name for themselves over the past 2 years amassing millions of plays and support from various music outlets across the globe.

Their single "Summer Madness" speaks directly to the people. Awon's lyrics touch on his past and appeal to his community that they must hold themselves accountable for their actions while cautioning his listeners to the danger of violence at the hands of police. His words call for an awareness: "But as long as racism lurks and people are jerks / There's a time frame where innocent kids are getting hurt / Black on Black crime, what about black and blue? / You won't understand it until it happens to you."

Phoniks sets the backdrop to his testimony with a combination of jazzy rhodes piano and traditional boom-bap drums accompanied with smooth saxophone samples weaved in and out composition.
