Thee Nine Three is an alternative hip-hop group from New Jersey. Recently they dropped a new single: "Pink Break!" The song is from their upcoming project 20 Year Theory, which will be released this year. We had a chance to ask them about the group as well as the new track. Check it out!

Start off by telling us who you are & where you’re from.

We are Thee Nine Three—a hip hop group from Hoboken, NJ. The group consists of three MC's and two producers. The rappers are Meho Burns, Nathan Frank, and Maxx (with 2 XX's). Our production team is Roper Williams.

When did you first discover your passion for hip-hop?

We've been passionate about Hip Hop since we were kids, but we started making beats and rhyming together in high school. One of our boys had the MPC and it just started from spitting freestyles every day after school.

What/who are you biggest influences?

It would be unfair to name specific artists, because there are so many artists who have influenced us over the years. It's honestly whoever's dope and it isn't afraid to make the music they like hearing. We all have are own personal taste and angle on music. It's what makes us so dynamic as a group.

What in your opinion is the best year in hip-hop and why?

1993 was the best year in hip hop hands down. Tribe dropped their best album. Snoop dropped his best album. Wu dropped their best album. Buhloone Mind State is slept on. Digable, Black Moon, Tupac and KRS—the list goes on and on.

If you could have the chance to work with any artist living or dead, who would you choose and why?

Whoever decides to rise from the dead and work with us. Nahh. In all honesty, we'd really like to do a song with Mos Def (Yasiin Bey).

What do you hope to accomplish through your music/career?

Spread good vibes and influence the youth to work hard and do what they love.

Now, tell us about “Pink Break!”. Who all had a hand in this project and why did you choose them? (Producer, video work, etc)

We produced it ourselves, shot it ourselves, edited it ourselves—because we believe in ourselves. We found that relying on other people doesn't always work. You're no one else's priority.

What was the most fun part of creating this track/video?

The most fun we had was coming up with ideas for the video and actually executing them.

Describe the track Pink Break in 3 words or less.
